1 day trek - Nagala Mini Trek, Monday or Tuesday, July 20 or 21, 2009

Here is a trek on a Weekday. For all those who have been drooling at the beautiful photos of Nagala - the crystal clear water pools, streams, forests and rocky outcrops, but not been able to enjoy them because you are not free weekends. A rare event just for you - a CTC trek on a weekday - Tuesday, July 21st. (An option of Monday 20th July is also indicated in case this is a more convenient day for more people).

SUMMARY
Type - Easy to Medium. (First timers and family members of regular trekkers, Children accompanied by parents are welcome). Option to make it tougher for a select few if some of the group members seems capable(but that would be solely the organisers' decision).
Duration - 1 day - Tuesday early morning till late evening
Distance - 2 hours North of Chennai, 6 to 8 km 1 way walk to the first pool.
Transporation - own (cars)
Expense - around Rs 500Rs (shared petrol, food, ...) - Pay advance Rs 500 at the pickup point, difference will be settled by the end of the day

AGENDA
Start at 4:45 am from TIDEL PARK
Pick up people along route (see pickup points below)
Reach Nagalapuram hills entry point village by 8.00. Have breakfast prior to trek.
Walk through to the temple and reach the first waterfall near the temple. Climb the steep rockface and thereafter walk along the stream, taking the pools along the way, till 1 pm.
Enjoy the splendid views of Eastern Ghats, enjoy the pool and the waterfall, take pictures, have lunch.

Start the return trip at 3:00 pm.
Reach the cars before sunset - target 6 pm
Return to Chennai

Please reach the pickup points 15 minutes before start time. We will be unable to wait for latecomers - to ensure the trip is enjoyable to all.

Seniors Trek - Nagada - 2nd August 2009

"LESS WALK MORE FUN"

Here it is, 1 day trek for the seniors above 35yrs. Its your chance to enjoy the green lush forest with some nice pools. We have already oraganised an orphan and ladies trek in this location. It's called Nagada and is different from our usual Nagala stream which is a bit more challenging. Its also bit of an picnic with more fun on gathering firewoods and cooking inside the jungle.
You are welcome to bring your young family members along with you.
I bet it will be great experience for the seniors.

SUMMARY
Objective - trek along crystal clear mountain stream in lush green forest surroundings
Terrain – small trail through sandy, rocky trail along river side, small uphill climbs
Difficulty – easy
Duration – 1 day, start Sunday early morning and return on the same day.
Distance - 3 hours North of Chennai, trek distance is around 10km
Transportation - using our own vechicles.If in case of insufficient transportation, we also have an option of hiring an tempo.
Expense - around 500Rs (shared petrol, food,..) - CTC is non-profit and cost is shared among all

AGENDA
Assemble Sunday 5am near TIDEL PARK main entrance
Pick up people along route (see pickup points below)
Leave Chennai before peak traffic
Take breakfast along the way
Park cars near village nearby the base of the mountains
Start trekking along the mountain stream
Swim in the many crystal clear water pools along the stream
We will be cooking our own food in the jungle - either Maggie noodles,soup or even fresh food.
Discover many scenic age old rock formations and beautiful waterfalls
Return along a the same trail and we'll be back before darkness to the vehicles and back to Chennai by 9pm.

TIDEL Park, Taramani – 5am
Guindy circle (Le Meridien) - 5:15am
Koyambedu (out gate of parking of public bus stand) - 5:40am
NH5 – 6am

MUST CARRY LUGGAGE:
Good walking shoes
Small/medium back-pack to carry food, clothes, water, snacks
1 water bottle (either full or empty) is sufficient - can be refilled along the stream
One extra set of clothes as we will get wet along the stream and pools
Sun cap and cream
Camera and 500Rs cash
Food will be taken care of by organizers

VERY IMPORTANT: Travel lightweight or you will find it difficult

Dabhosa Waterfall Trail 11th-12th July 2009, Thane, Maharashtra

As the monsoon sets in, a number of unexplored waterfalls cascade through the mountains in Sahyadris. The Jawhar region hosts many such unexplored waterfalls. Jungle Lore is organizing a special waterfall trail on 11th & 12th July 2009 in Jawhar region along with the visit to Bilyacha Dongar. (leopard’s mountain).The waterfalls we will cover are Palu, Vihi and many such along the road.
Dabhosa Waterfall is a seasonal fall in Thane District of Maharashtra. This 300 ft high waterfall is on Jawhar-Silvassa road, about 18 km from Jawhar. The fall is at its peak capacity during the rainy season. The entire depth of the fall can only be witnessed from a flat summit near the fall.
We will also visit an unexplored/uncommon place called “Bilyacha Dongar “(Leopard’s Mountain) which also falls in this region. Surrounded by 40 sq kms of thick forest inhabited by tribes, this forest is rich in hyena, jackal, leopard, spotted deer population, although, this place is most noted for presence of elusive leopards. The mountain is rocky and has many caves – a perfect habitat for leopards since it’s conducive for killing prey and is free from tourists. At a height of 1200 Feet, this thrilling trek can be enjoyed by all walks of people.

Tadiyandamol trek on 11th and 12th July 2009, coorg, Karnataka

About Tadiyandamol:
Tadiyandamol is the second highest mountain in Karnataka only after Mullayanagiri in Chickamagalur district. Situvated near to Kakkabe town in Kodagu district, Tadiyandamol is a trekkers paradise. The views from the hill top are awesome and breathtaking. It is 260Km from Bangalore
